African-American Museums and Historic Sites
This map presents a small sampling of the hundreds of significant African-American historical places and museums in the United States. Many of the places listed directly relate to the Jim Crow era, while others deal with slavery and more recent times. Some are little more than markers that highlight and identify important events or people. Others are fully developed museums and archives containing a wealth of information for teachers and students. Teachers are evaluating these sites for resource value in the classroom, and offer their brief evaluations along with a site description. For more information on the topics and people associated with this listing, go to the Jim Crow Gateway for teacher evaluated external web sites. If you have a submission for this map, click here.
