NAACP Web site
http://www.naacp.org
This is the homepage for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a leading force for civil rights in America for almost a century. The value of this page is in the links that it provides to various elements of the work done by the organization. Some of these links connect to a timeline of the organization's history, updates on current political issues, various programs sponsored by the NAACP, and Crisis magazine. While somewhat helpful with providing general information, the purpose of the Web site is directed more toward recruitment than classroom education.

NAACP: Our Past and Your Future
http://www.naacp.org/past_future/index.html
This page is a link from the NAACP homepage. It offers a look at the past and the proposed future of the association. There is a timeline of the NAACP's history grouped according to decade. This is somewhat helpful because it presents highlights of the organization's activities since 1909. However, there isn't much detail here and the presentation is rather self-promotional. The future is conveyed in a seventeen-page document in PDF format. The document proposes strategic priorities and goals to be pursued by the organization over the next few years. While providing some indication of the future, this wouldn't be that helpful to K-12 students of the past.
