A Sharecrop Contract 1882
http://www.toptags.com/aama/docs/sharecrop.htm
This page is part of a larger Web site entitled the Afro-American Almanac offering a variety of resources and carrying the recommendation of the History Channel. This particular page presents what appears to be an authentic text of a sharecropping contract. Although there is no lesson plan attached, the text of the contract is simple enough to use in most classrooms as a primary source, helping students to understand the restrictive conditions of this type of economic arrangement. The links attached to this page offer other valuable resources as well.

A Photo Dossier on Sharecropping
http://www.english.uiuc.edu/maps/poets/a_f/brown/photos.htm
Displaying a portion of the images found on the Library of Congress' American Memory site, these photos of sharecroppers tell the story without text. Teachers can use these pictures to give a face to life under Jim Crow. There is no extensive supporting text, but the link at the end of the page does go to a larger site poet Sterling A. Brown.

Sharecropping
http://www.bchm.org/wrr/recon/p6a.html
This page is part of a larger online presentation about the Civil War and Reconstruction sponsored by the Brazoria County (TX) Historical Museum. While this page offers only a small parcel of information, the larger presentation does a good job of explaining the effects of Reconstruction on African Americans in one particular locale. Some of the illustrations are too small to be helpful and there are no teacher resources listed but the presentation itself could work as a self-guided tour.
